Disney Releases the First Image from the Live-Action ‘Mulan’

Disney has released the first image from the live-action Mulan!

DIsney tweeted out an announcement that production had begun on the live-action version of Mulan. The film is directed by Niki Caro (Whale Rider, McFarland USA) and opens March 27, 2020.

Yifei Liu is shown in the image in character as Mulan. Also starring in the film are Donnie Yen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) as Commander Tung, Jet Li as the emperor of China, Xena Tang as Mulan’s sister, Li Gong as a “powerful witch,” Jason Scott Lee as Bori Khan.

You might remember Yifei Liu from the 2008 film The Forbidden Kingdom, where she played The Golden Sparrow. She’ll lead a cast of mostly Chinese actors, as Disney is striving for authenticity in the cast.
