E3: Arcade1Up Announces Atari ‘Star Wars’ Cabinet

Arcade1Up has announced a Star Wars video game cabinet is coming for home arcades this holiday season.

The Arcade1Up Star Wars cabinet, a four-foot version of the arcade game that was a sensation in video arcades in the 1980s, will include all three games Atari made for the original trilogy, including “Star Wars,” The Empire Strikes Back,” and Return of the Jedi.”

Arcade1Up staff are reportedly telling visitors to the booth that the game will sell for “under $500 retail” and will be available this November. The cabinet features a backlit marquee (just like the arcade game), a recessed screen (tilted back), stereo speakers underneath the marquee, and an arcade-accurate “Flight Yoke” controller. The cabinet is also cut true to original arcade cabinet. Other Arcade1Up cabinets use a standard frame, and adjust the graphics to it.

Twitter user @cooltoy_23 tweeted pictures of the cabinet Wednesday, after Arcade1Up revealed it at their booth at the E3 conference.

Here is the tweet.

We will post more information as it becomes available.
