Why is Disney Ignoring Pedro Pascal’s Nazi Tweets After Firing Gina Carano?

After Lucasfilm fired actress Gina Carano Wednesday over what they called “abhorrent” tweets, many are asking why fellow actor Pedro Pascal isn’t being held to the same standard.

As we reported, Carano was fired from the Star Wars live-action series “The Mandalorian” after she posted a meme criticizing the rise of hate against people over their political views. The meme said it was a tactic used by Nazi Germany to foster hate among citizens toward Jews, which made the eventual Holocaust acceptable to the people of Germany.

Carano was accused of making an insensitive post about the Holocaust, although it seems obvious those offended by the post were actually looking to stir up trouble for the actress. A concerted effort to get Carano fired over her conservative/libertarian views has been active on Twitter for some time.

Carano deleted the post, but the outrage seemed to earn the support of the decision-makers at Lucasfilm, who eventually cut ties. “Her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable,” Lucasfilm said in a statement.

After the announcement, many began to ask why Pedro Pascal was not held to the same standard, as he has invoked the Holocaust and Nazi imagery to criticize now-former President Donald Trump.

That included this tweet, comparing Holocaust concentration camps to President Trump’s “detention cages” holding migrant children.

Worse yet, it turns out the picture Pascal used wasn’t even of migrant children detained by the Trump administration. It dates from 2010 and is of Palestinian children. Twitter did not label the tweet as misleading, as it often does with many politically-charged posts.

Another social media post by Pascal compared the Nazi swastika to “MAGA” hats. He later deleted the post.

Neither Disney nor Lucasfilm seemed to have a problem with the posts.

Many are pointing out Disney’s double standard.

Others called on the “Mandalorian” cast and crew to defend Carano. They have yet to.

Neither Disney nor Lucasfilm have provided any additional comment on Gina Carano or Pedro Pascal.

Great article, sums up Disney’s double standard very well.
