No more Topps Football Cards!

In a shocking announcement, the NFL Players Association has denied Topps a license to produce NFL football cards in 2010. Topps has been the leader in football cards since the 1960’s, and their products, which include Chrome, Triple Threads, Heritage, and a number of others, are fan favorites with a HUGE following. Instead, NFL cards for 2010 will be produced by Upper Deck (which does a great job I think) and Panini (an unproven newcomer who won’t even provide us with press releases on upcoming products and news, so we aren’t big fans). The move comes as the NFL tries to stabilize a shaky hobby in a shakier economy, but dumping Topps? Really? What a supid move. First, the NFL shuts the door on Rush Limbaugh, now Topps. What idiots are running the NFL?
