It’s weird, it’s boring, it’s even a little offensive. It’s the Star Wars Holiday Special, and it turned 39 in 2017.
On November 17, 1978, the Star Wars Holiday Special aired on CBS, never to be seen again, as the embarrassing piece of 1970s kitsch was widely panned by fans and critics alike. Nostalgia can cover many shortcomings, however, and the Holiday Special lives on in bootleg DVD copies and online.
