It was a long time coming, but collectors of classic toys have had their prayers answered: Mego is coming back with a new line of action figures.

At this past weekend’s Mego Meet in Columbus, Ohio, Mego President Marty Abrams announced that he is reviving the line of classic 8-inch figures, and will hit store shelves later this year.

We don’t yet know which lines and characters will be made, but Abrams said those details will be announced in the next two weeks. Other figure sizes will be made, and details are forthcoming.

The Mego Museum reports.

Mego President Marty Abrams along with Paul “Dr. Mego” Clarke spoke to a jam-packed hall at this Saturday’s Mego Meet 2018 for a panel about Mego’s past and it’s future. We’ll have a video up of this session soon, it was a fun experience filled with some great annecdotes and laughs, the man can hold court!

The big announcement was that Mego Corporation is returning and to mass retail this year. While all the details and figures will be revealed at the Mego Museum in two weeks, here is what we do know.

*Mego is back and they’re in the action figure business baby!
*There will be 20 different characters introduced in the first wave.
*It is a variety of licenses, some will be familiar to Mego fans, others will be new properties to the World’s Greatest Toy Company.
*There will be 8″ figures but also other scales, due to license parameters.
*Figures were produced under the watchful eye of Paul “Dr. Mego” Clarke.
*All details including licenses, characters, and the retailer will be revealed mid-June.

This video shows some of the highlights of the Mego Meet, which is a much smaller show than most comic cons, but the quality of the merchandise is unmatched.

If you need a reminder (or an education) of just how awesome Mego was, this video counts down the top ten figures from their 1970s superhero line.
