BREAKING: J.J. Abrams Posts First Pic From Star Wars: Episode IX Set
Principal photography started today on Star Wars: Episode IX, and director J.J. Abrams has posted the first picture from the set!
It’s difficult to see exactly what is going on, but the picture shows a camera filming a scene in the Millennium Falcon cockpit. Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) and Finn (John Boyega) can be easily seen, and it appears that Rey (Daisy Ridley) is also in the shot in the pilot’s seat, although somewhat obscured by the camera.
Abrams mentions that it is bittersweet doing the film without Carrie Fisher, and even sends a thank you to Rian Johnson for his work on The Last Jedi.
Here’s the tweet.
Bittersweet starting this next chapter without Carrie, but thanks to an extraordinary cast and crew, we are ready to go. Grateful for @rianjohnson and special thanks to George Lucas for creating this incredible world and beginning a story of which we are lucky to be a part. #IX pic.twitter.com/FOfnGwVut5
