‘IT: Chapter 2’ Release Date Announced – Here’s What We Know
It’s only fitting that Warner Bros. waited until Halloween to formally announce the return of Pennywise in IT: Chapter 2.
This morning, the official “IT” Twitter account announced the release date for IT: Chapter 2 as September 6, 2019.
Set 27 years after the first film, the movie follows the grown-up members of the “Loser’s Club” as they reunite to fight Pennywise once again.
The film stars James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, Jay Ryan, James Ransone, and Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise. The young actors who portrayed the “Loser’s Club” in the first film, will appear in flashbacks. Andrés Muschietti, who directed the first film, returns to helm the sequel.

Producers have confirmed that the sequel will be very faithful to the book, including the infamous “The Ritual of Chüd.”
Screenwriter Gary Dauberman discussed the story in an interview with Cinema Blend. “The Ritual of Chüd is challenging, but it’s such an important component to the book that we had to address it. That stuff is difficult to balance, but because (director Andy Muschietti, producer Barbara Muschietti and I) worked with each other before, when I’m writing pages and all that stuff, it becomes more of a conversation.”
