New ‘Star Wars’ TV Series Announced – Diego Luna to Star as Cassian Andor
Diego Luna (Book of Life, Flatliners) is returning to the role of Cassian Andor in a Star Wars live-action TV show.
On Thursday, Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced that a live-action TV series set before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is coming to Disney+, the studios’ streaming service that begins broadcasting next year. Luna will reprise his role as Andor for the series, which begins production next year.
The film will cover the early years of the Rebellion, prior to Rogue One film. According to StarWars.com, the series is described as a “rousing spy thriller (that) will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.”
“Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me,” Diego Luna said. “I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”
