Comic Book Legend Stan Lee Dead at 95
Stan Lee, the legendary comic book icon who created Marvel superheroes including Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four, and The Incredible Hulk, has died at the age of 95.
TMZ was the first to report his passing.
The Associated Press is reporting that a family attorney confirmed Lee died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles this morning.
Lee had been in failing health in recent years, and had ended his appearances at comic book conventions, where he had been a staple for decades. In recent months, however, his health seemed to have improved, to the point that he was posting videos on social media.
In October he posted this video, to promote an anti-drug abuse program.
In 1971, Stan wrote 3 Spider-Man anti-drug stories. In 2018, Stan & POW! continue this tradition with @YouTube comedy channel @smosh, @DEAHQ & @elksdap, America's largest volunteer drug awareness program, to create the video “A Single Moment.” #ElksDAP https://t.co/GtOxuMarBB pic.twitter.com/Wpncbsvypb

Robert Downey Jr. posted his condolences on Instagram.
The final tweet on Lee’s Twitter account (which is run by a staffer) paid tribute to his military service, in a Veterans Day post.
Thank you to all of America's veterans for your service. Fun fact: Stan’s official US Army title during WW2 was ‘Playwright.’ #VeteransDay pic.twitter.com/limi6CWzsL

Lee led the comic book revolution by creating more complex superheroes, reflecting America’s social change at the time. Spider-Man, who struggled to balance heroics with his true identity as teenager Peter Parker, epitomized Lee’s approach to making superheroes more grounded and relatable.
His passing is being noted across social media.
