Deborah Ann Woll Thinks She’s Done Playing Karen Page

Deborah Ann Woll believes her time as Karen Page in Netflix’s Marvel shows has come to an end.

In a tweet posted Friday afternoon, Woll said her appearance as the reporter/crime fighter will likely end with season two of The Punisher, which premieres January 18 on Netflix.

“Most likely the final appearance of me playing Karen Page will be in The Punisher Season 2,” she tweeted. “I miss her very much. Be sure to watch!! @jonnybernthal is amazing in it! So is everybody! Hope it gets to continue for a third season.”

Woll has portrayed Karen Page on three of the six Marvel shows Netflix has featured. She started off on Daredevil, moved on to The Defenders, and then appeared on The Punisher, after Frank Castle crossed paths with Matt Murdock in Daredevil season two.

Here is the tweet.

Woll’s comments seem to reflect the expectations of many – that The Punisher will likely get cancelled unless it has an insanely successful second season. Netflix has been quick to cancel the Marvel series it carries, even when they do well. Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist have all been cancelled by Netflix in recent months. Although Daredevil in particular was popular with both fans and critics, it was cancelled about a month after its fall 2018 premiere. That leaves many wondering what it will take to keep it going past this season.

Although an official reason for the cancellations has not been announced, it is believed the costs involved to produce the series were not justified.

Neither Netflix nor Marvel has commented on Deborah Ann Woll’s tweet, nor on the future of The Punisher.
