The Trailer for ‘Joker’ is Here, and It’s Dark

It’s been the talk of DC fans for months, and now we have our first extended look at Joker, the latest cinematic incarnation of the Batman villain. And this looks to be the darkest version of the character yet.

Joaquin Phoenix stars in the lead role, and the trailer follows his progression from failed stand-up comedian Arthur Fleck to the Clown Prince of Crime. Robert De Niro also stars, and is briefly seen in a shot that harkens back to his film The King of Comedy. Todd Phillips (The Hangover trilogy) directs, and it looks to run a depressing line from tragedy to dark comedy.

Here’s the Joker trailer.

Joker opens October 4.
