Hasbro Toy Designer Ron Rudat to Attend DFW GI Joe Show This June

Ron Rudat, considered by fans as the “father” of the modern G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero action figure line, will appear at the DFW G.I. Joe Action Figure and Toy Show this June.

Rudat has designed G.I. Joe figures from the beginning. He started in 1980 (the figures actually hit toy stores in 1982) and worked on the line through 1987. According to 3DJoes.com, “Ron Rudat was the figure designer behind G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero. Every figure sprung from his mind onto the page. He also designed vehicles and decals, books, and the Cobra logo!”

Ron’s likeness was used on the Leatherneck figure, and his name was used on the bio for the Dusty figure, although Dusty’s name is Ronald W. Tadur, with “Rudat” spelled backwards.

Ron Rudat will be a special guest at the DFW G.I. Joe Action Figure and Toy Show on both Saturday and Sunday, June 8 and 9. The show will be held at the Grapevine Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas, just north of the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. Details on Rudat’s appearance can be found at the show website, DFWJoeShow.com (click here).
