The Cast of ‘Space Jam 2’ Has Been Announced, and an Unhappy Twitter Went Off

Numerous reports have revealed the likely cast of Space Jam 2, the LeBron James – Bugs Bunny team-up that absolutely no one but James himself asked for.

Most fans of the 1996 film don’t want to see the classic sullied, which starred Michael Jordan, the Looney Tunes, and other NBA stars. Still, Warner Bros. and James seem intent on getting the film made, and have reportedly nailed down a cast, which is being widely mocked by Twitter users.

The cast reportedly includes James’ new Laker teammate, Anthony Davis. Also in the cast are Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers), Nneka and Chiney Ogwumike (sisters playing for the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks), Chris Paul (Houston Rockets), Diana Taurasi (Phoenix Mercury), and Klay Thompson (a current free agent with the Golden State Warriors).

While Anthony Davis and Chris Paul have some name recognition, the other players (though talented) are largely unknown outside of the NBA fan base. Contrast that to the original Space Jam, where Charles Barkley, Larry Johnson (who had his ‘Grandmama’ Nike commercials) and Patrick Ewing were household names.

While there are reportedly more cameos and NBA player appearances in the film, fans want to know why some of the bigger, more likable personalities aren’t in the movie. Jordan had no problem getting a cast that was both diverse and hilarious for the original Space Jam, but James seems content to only cast his teammates and friends who won’t upstage him.

The announcement of the cast was widely mocked on Twitter, with many accusing LeBron of using the film to attract free agents. Other just mocked the lackluster cast selection.

Even we got in on the action.
