Drag Queen RuPaul Claims ‘We Are All God in Drag’

Transgender TV host and drag queen RuPaul raised eyebrows recently when he tried to tie the drag queen lifestyle to spirituality, when he claimed “we are all God in drag.”

At the recent Creative Arts Emmys, RuPaul picked up his fourth Emmy for his show “RePaul’s Drag Race.” Speaking to reporters at the event, he claimed that drag has a spiritual component, saying it is “an extension of the power that created the whole universe.”

His comments then became more bizarre, and at times, even contradictory. He criticized those who try to mainstream a “superficial aspect of drag” by making it “cute.”

“The deeper level of drag is all about, you’re born naked and the rest is drag,” he said. “And that’s political, it’s very punk rock, it’s very radical. It’s this idea that you are not your body. You are an extension of the power that created the whole universe. That’s drag. We are all God in drag.”

To no one’s surprise, he advocated for transgenderism, claiming it is “a radical thought for most people to envelope, because the ego says, ‘No. I am whatever it says on my driver’s license.”

Despite claiming that drag was a radical concept and not mainstream, he then told reporters that everyone is a drag queen. “Everyone in this room is in drag,” he told a room full of reporters. “Hey, look at all you drag queens. Hi drag queens!”
