Donald Trump Cut From ‘Home Alone 2’ TV Broadcast (VIDEO)
President Donald Trump’s cameo in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York has been removed for a television broadcast, and there’s a foreign government connection behind it.
According to multiple reports, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) removed the cameo scene during broadcasts of the film in Canada. The scene features Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) asking for directions from Trump in the lobby of The Plaza Hotel.
Trump was the owner of the hotel at the time.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation is funded by the Canadian government, leading many to believe that the cut was politically motivated. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has traded jabs publicly with Trump, while the President has mocked Trudeau and his government’s over-regulation.
Although the censorship of the Trump cameo is making waves on social media, this isn’t the first time the CBC has cut the film. According to social media, the CBC first cut the scene in 2015. The cuts were made mere months after Trump entered the presidential race. That’s also the same year Trudeau took office.
ComicBook.com reported that the CBC justified the cut with a statement. “As is often the case with features adapted for television, Home Alone 2 was edited to allow for commercial time within the format,” the statement read.
However, the movie runs two hours, and in that case, networks often extend the broadcast time rather than cut scenes. Most broadcasts include 20 minutes of commercials per hour.
Here’s the original, unedited clip.
Social media had a field day.
The White House has not commented on the censorship.
