Alan Harris, Bossk in ‘The Empire Strikes Back,’ Has Passed

British actor Alan Harris, who played the role of the bounty hunter Bossk in The Empire Strikes Back, has died at the age of 81.

Several Star Wars news outlets, as well as actor Chris Parsons (4-LOM in The Empire Strikes Back) confirmed his passing on Facebook. The two had become good friends over the years.

Harris has been a regular on the convention circuit in recent years, but health issues had limited him. It is not currently known what caused his passing.

Harris donned a jumpsuit used in an old Dr. Who episode and a newly-created lizard-like head to play the Trandoshan Bossk, who was tasked to find Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon. He also played a Bespin Security Guard and a Hoth trooper in the film.

The actor’s full body was also used as the cast for the Han Solo in Carbonite prop, with Harrison Ford’s face added. He was also the stand-in used to build Boba Fett’s armor, although Jeremy Bullock wore it in the film.

In Return of the Jedi, another actor donned the Bossk costume, but Harris acted as a stand-in for C-3PO and played a Stormtrooper.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Harris’ family, friends, and colleagues.
