GAME OVER: The Alien Twitter Account Marked Bill Paxton’s Birthday with Wrong Actor’s Picture (Screenshot)

Somebody needs to check on the official Alien Twitter, after the social media account couldn’t figure out who Bill Paxton was.

On Sunday morning, the Twitter account posted a tweet marking the birthday of the late actor Bill Paxton, who was born on May 17. It just didn’t go over well.

Paxton brought life to the unforgettable character of Hudson in Aliens, who delivered some memorable lines in the film before going out in a blaze of glory against a mob of Xenomorphs. He was a favorite actor of director James Cameron, who cast him in his films The Terminator, Titanic, and even had him narrate the Titanic documentary Ghosts of the Abyss.

In 2017, the actor passed away at the age of 61.

In their attempt to honor the actor on his birthday, however, whoever runs the Alien Twitter account messed up. Big time.

The tweet featured an anecdote that revealed Cameron asked the actors playing the Galactic Marines to customize their armor to give them some individuality. Paxton personalized his by adding the name of his real-life wife, Louise.

There was a problem, however: the actor featured in the picture was Michael Biehn, who played Hicks in the film.

The Tweet

Here’s a screenshot we took of the tweet, which was deleted about an hour after it was posted.

The Twitter account did not issue a corrected tweet, nor did it acknowledge the error.

Ironically, in the film, the characters of Hicks and Hudson are mistaken for each other. That did not appear to be the inspiration for the tweet, however.

Before it was deleted, Aliens fans responded with questions as to how such a mistake could have been made with two popular actors in iconic roles for the film series.

Bill Paxton holds the distinction of being only one of two actors to be killed on-screen by a Predator, an Alien, and the Terminator. Lance Henrickson is the only other actor to lay claim to this sci-fi trifecta. Disregard any arguments some may make that argue whether a particular character actually died. It’s still a level of awesomeness we’re not going to split hairs over.

Post your thoughts in the comments section below on the ridiculous mistake in the Bill Paxton tweet. In addition, share this on social media.
