‘Indiana Jones 5’ Confirmed for 2022: Harrison Ford Returning For Final Adventure

The long-rumored fifth Indiana Jones film is finally happening, with Harrison Ford wearing the fedora one last time, but without Steven Spielberg as director.

Lucasfilm made the announcement Thursday evening, during a Disney investors meeting.

More details on the film aren’t immediately available, but it is assumed creator George Lucas will still be involved, as he and Spielberg have been working on another installment for years. It isn’t clear, however, what role Spielberg will have (if any), as James Mangold will now be in the director’s chair.

The Oscar-nominated Mangold has helmed Best Picture nominee Ford v. Ferrari, as well as Logan, The Wolverine, and Walk The Line.

According to Lucasfilm, the film will be the last in the movie franchise. Kathleen Kennedy confirms the film will begin shooting in the spring for a release in July 2022.
