‘Star Wars: Republic Commando’ Coming to PS4

The classic Star Wars first-person shooter Republic Commando is coming to Playstation 4 this spring!

The 2005 Lucasarts video game is making a comeback, according to a post on Playstation’s blog. The game will be available on the Playstation store beginning on April 6, thanks to a port by Aspyr Media.

The game follows the exploits of Delta Squad Republic Commandos, and adds a tactical element (including squad commands) to first-person-shooter gameplay.

For those of you who didn’t grow up playing this, here’s the game’s description via Playstation:

You’ll play as Delta Squad leader RC-1138, AKA Delta Three-Eight, AKA “Boss,” but no clone is alone. The squad is your weapon, especially when you call the shots with maneuvers. Sure, your squadmates can maintain formation and execute tactics on their own, but the key to success is directing your squad to victory.

These maneuvers include commands to perform special tasks like demolitions or door breaches, search and destroy commands, and calls for your squad to form-up behind you. Your squad can even revive you when you fall in battle!

Delta Squad has been such a fan favorite over the years, they were made official Star Wars canon with an appearance in the “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” episode “Witches From the Mist.”

The game also features the voice of Temuera Morrison as the voice of Delta Squad leader Delta Three-Eight.

Aspyr has added some modern upgrades to the classic gameplay. The game controls are now compatible to DualShock 4 and DualSense controllers. The game will be playable on the PS5 via backwards compatibility. There will also be new trophies to hunt down throughout the game.
