One of the Last Surviving Cast Members of ‘Alien’ Has Died (VIDEO)
Actor Yaphet Kotto, best known for his roles in Alien and the James Bond film Live and Let Die, has died at the age of 81.
Kotto played Dennis Parker in Alien and the villain Mr. Big in Live and Let Die. In a career that spanned over 50 years, he appeared in a number of notable films and TV series, including Midnight Run, The Running Man, Raid on Entebbe, and “Homicide: Life on the Street.”
His passing leaves only Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skeritt, and Veronica Cartwright among the surviving original cast. John Hurt and Harry Dean Stanton passed in 2017; Ian Holm passed in 2020. Bolaji Badejo, who wore the Alien suit, passed in 1993.
Kotto died Sunday evening, but a location and a cause of death was not announced. His wife announced his passing in a Facebook post. “This is a very painful moment for me to inform you all fans, friends and family of my husband….You played a villain on some of your movies but for me you’re a real hero and to a lot of people also. A good man, a good father, a good husband and a decent human being, very rare to find,” Tessie Sinahon wrote.
In this clip, Kotto discusses how Alien made him recognizable worldwide.
