New ‘Transformers’ Movie Announced: Here’s What We Know
The evolution of the Transformers film franchise continues, as Hasbro Studios has announced the next film in the series will be titled Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
Here’s all we know about the film so far, thanks to a virtual event held earlier today.
- Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II) is directing.
- The film is in production now and will be released June 24, 2022.
- The seventh movie in the series is part of a reboot of the franchise.
- The plot is based on the popular “Beast Wars” toys, storyline, comics, and cartoons.
- Rise of the Beasts is set in 1994 and will take place in Brooklyn, New York and Peru. 1994 is also the year “Beast Wars” made its debut.
- The Maximals, Predacons and Terracons will be introduced, but Optimus Prime and Bumblebee will be the main characters.
- Peter Cullen is returning as Optimus Prime, and will be seen in his original Generation 1 (G1) form. We will see Optimus’ journey in becoming the leader of the Autobots.
- Decepticons will be seen in the film but the Terrorcons will be the main villains.
- Anthony Ramos (In the Heights) and Dominique Fishback (Judas and the Black Messiah) will star as the leads.
