DC Comics Drops ‘The American Way’ From Superman’s ‘Truth, Justice’ Motto

DC Comics’ radical social shift continues, as evidenced from the announcements coming out of Saturday’s DC Fandome online event.

Even as DC faces major layoffs and restructuring amid sagging sales, the iconic comic publisher continues to run its own legacy into the ground.

The latest controversy erupted today when publisher Jim Lee announced that Superman’s motto, which for decades had been “Truth, Justice, and the American Way” has now dropped the patriotic reference. It is now “Truth, Justice, and a Better Tomorrow.”

Here’s the tweet announcing the change, plastered across artwork of the Clark Kent Superman.

Fans voiced their disapproval, stating that there was nothing wrong with the original motto. Others claimed that America’s image is nothing Superman should fight for.

Peter Simeti, owner and publisher of Alterna Comics, pointed out the millennial narcissism imbedded in the new motto.

Even celebrities weren’t happy. Actor Greg Grunberg (“Heroes,” Star Wars) voiced his disapproval.

The motto change comes the same week DC Comics announced that Jon Kent, the son of Clark Kent who has become the new Superman, is bisexual.

In yet another recent controversy, fans wondered why a new Superman comic would show him protesting climate change, when he and other superheroes have the ability to solve the crisis themselves.

Even the Babylon Bee is mocking the farce Superman has become.
