WATCH: Will Smith Caught on Video Singing, Dancing at After-Oscar Party
Will Smith danced and sang at an after-Oscars party, seemingly unfazed by the Chris Rock incident, according to cellphone video taken at the party and posted online.
The video, taken at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, shows Smith singing and dancing a short time after slapping Chris Rock on live TV and winning the Oscar for Best Actor. The attack on Rock earned the actor widespread condemnation, and the Academy has opened a disciplinary review of the situation.
A tearful Smith apologized to the Academy – but not to Rock – during his Best Actor Oscar acceptance speech (for his performance in King Richard), but he was all smiles after the ceremony.
Several accounts posted video on Twitter of Smith celebrating at the Vanity Fair Party, including Variety editor Ramin Setoodeh, who posted several videos. He later deleted the tweets without explanation. Nekesa Mumbi Moody, Editorial Director of The Hollywood Reporter, also posted at least one video of Smith, but deleted it later as well, without explanation. Their videos, however, were reposted by other Twitter accounts.
However, another Variety editor, Marc Malkin, posted his video of Will Smith celebrating.
In this video, posted by two different Twitter accounts, Will Smith seemed particularly happy when his own song, “Gettin’ Jiggy With It,” began to play.
Another video shows more partying by Smith.
More video posted by Twitter users was often paired with comments dismayed at his unrepentant behavior.
Will Smith later issued a full written apology, which included Chris Rock, and posted it to social media. Rock has since made several appearances in Boston to perform his stand-up, where he received enthusiastic support from the audience.
