David Warner, Actor in ‘TRON’ and ‘Ninja Turtles 2,’ Has Died (VIDEO)

David Warner, a British actor best known for his roles in films ranging from TRON to Titanic to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, has passed away at the age of 80.

According to a statement from his family, Warner died Sunday at Denville Hall, a retirement home in Northwood, Great Britain for people in the entertainment industry. His cause of death is listed only as a “cancer-related illness.”

“Over the past 18 months he approached his diagnosis with a characteristic grace and dignity,” his family said in a statement. “He will be missed hugely by us, his family and friends, and remembered as a kind-hearted, generous and compassionate man, partner and father, whose legacy of extraordinary work has touched the lives of so many over the years. We are heartbroken.”

His career lasted nearly 60 years, across stage, screen, and television. His roles in some major Hollywood hits, however, made him a recognizable face to so many.

In Disney’s 1982 classic TRON, Warner played Dillinger, the head of ENCOM and the nemesis of Flynn (Jeff Bridges). In the computer world, Warner played the role of Sark, who ran the “grid” for the Master Control Program (MCP). In 1991’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze, Warner played Professor Jordon Perry, who helps the Turtles in their battle with Shredder. Later that year, he starred as Chancellor Gorkon in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. In 1997, he appeared in one of his most well-known roles, as Spicer Lovejoy in James Cameron’s Titanic.
