‘Avengers’ Actor Joining ‘Indiana Jones 5’
The cast of the upcoming Indiana Jones 5 continues to grow, with the latest addition coming from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Thomas Kretschmann, who portrayed Baron Wolfgang von Strucker in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, will appear in the next installment of the legendary film series. His exact role in the film is currently unknown. TheWrap broke the story earlier today.
Kretschmann has also appeared in the remake of King Kong, Greyhound, Cars 2, and Blade II.
Harrison Ford will return as Indy, and both Mads Mikkelsen and Phoebe Waller-Bridge have been announced as members of the cast. No other cast members from the previous films have officially signed on for the new film.
Composer John Williams, who scored all of the previous installments, is returning for the film as well.
One noticeable departure from the Indiana Jones series is director Steven Spielberg, who is being replaced by James Mangold (Logan, Ford vs. Ferrari) Spielberg is serving as a producer on the upcoming film.
Indiana Jones 5 has been delayed three times since Lucasfilm first announced it in 2016. It was slated for release in July 2019. It was pushed to July 10, 2020, then again to July 9, 2021, and will now be released on July 29, 2022.
Lucasfilm has not yet confirmed the casting.
