New Guardians of the Galaxy Trailer with New Footage and New Guardians
So it looks like Yondu will officially be joining The Guardians. It also shows Nebula being a bit more friendly than she was in the previous movie, which caused fans to question if she is now part of the team. Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige recently spoke about Nebula’s role in the GOTG sequel.
“The Sovereign has captured Nebula, and are doing sort of a prisoner, are exchanging her for the services of the Guardians helping them, and they want to take Nebula back to Xandar, to have her, to have her arrested,” Feige said. “Things go awry on that journey, and she becomes a much bigger player in the film than she was in the first one.”
Another character we saw more of was Mantis. Feige also spoke on what her role in the movie would be. “Mantis in the comics is a highly complicated, weird character, whose history makes little sense,” Feige said. “I’m assuming we’re sort of clean-slating it here with this version of Mantis, or is the celestial Madonna stuff in play? Those specifics are not in play, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less complicated and weird,” Feige said.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters May 5th, 2017.
