Watching Two Cops Sing ‘God Bless America” Is The Best Thing You’ll See Today (VIDEO)
Two police officers from Boston have gone viral – just in time for the Fourth of July – with their on-camera rendition of “God Bless America.” The video can be seen below.
The performance, by Officers Stephen McNulty and Kim Tavares, is part of the “Cop Pool Karaoke Challenge,” in which police officers across the nation use their dashcam video cameras to belt out their favorite tunes.
The challenge is inspired by “Carpool Karaoke,” a segment on CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” where Corden drives famous singers around while they sing their greatest hits.
The “Cop Pool Karaoke Challenge” is also an attempt to humanize cops with the public, at a time when officers are under increasing criticism and attack.
In the video, McNulty and Tavares discuss the upcoming Fourth of July holiday, and the tradition of firing cannons over Boston’s Charles River. They then start singing the song. Since its posting, the video has been seen hundreds of thousands of times and been carried by a number of news networks.
