Watch the First Trailer for ‘Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker’

The very first trailer for Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker was revealed today, teasing the return of a classic trilogy villain for the final film in the saga.

As you can see, the film harkens back to the original trilogy, including Lando Calrissian, the Death Star, the Battle of Yavin medal, and the familiar cackle of Emperor Palpatine. Given the words of Luke Skywalker claiming no one is ever really gone, we could see the Emperor return for a final showdown.

Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker opens December 20, 2019.
