‘Batman’ Director Matt Reeves Confirms Robert Pattinson Casting in a Funny Tweet
Director Matt Reeves has made a personal confirmation of Robert Pattinson’s casting as Bruce Wayne for his upcoming film The Batman. And he did it with a tongue-in-cheek tweet.
After Ben Affleck stepped away from the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman over a year ago, Reeves (who also directed Cloverfield) has made it clear the new film would be a reboot, telling the story of a younger Batman. Contrary to a slew of rumors, however, Reeves has said the film will not be based on Frank Miller’s popular “Year One” Batman comic.
The Batman is set to open in theaters on June 25, 2021.
While Pattinson’s casting has been all but confirmed, Reeves himself had stayed mum on the subject – until today.
In a tweet posted Monday on his Twitter account, Reeves had some fun in confirming the casting. He used bat emojis and a GIF of Pattinson brooding, hinting at the potential he saw in the actor.
Here’s the tweet.
Batman isn’t the only DC comic character with a film in development, however. Others include a Justice League Flash, Green Lantern Corps, Black Adam, Suicide Squad, Nightwing, Supergirl, Plastic Man and New Gods.
