New Netflix Feature Lets Viewers Skip Seth Myers’ Trump Jokes
People triggered by the mere mention of the name Donald Trump can now skip over jokes about him, thanks to a new Netflix feature available on Seth Myers’ new comedy special.
The “Late Night” host has his Netflix special, titled “Lobby Baby,” and will include a “skip” feature for those who don’t want to hear his Trump jokes.
The “skip” feature will be an on-screen button, similar to the “skip intro” button Netflix adds to the beginning of shows, so people who binge don’t have to see the opening credits over and over.
However, the “skip” feature for Myer’s Trump jokes are the first time Netflix made it possible to skip the actual content of a program.
In an interview with CNN, Myers tried to spin the feature as his idea. And a great idea, in his mind.
“It dawned on me that because it was on Netflix, there would be this opportunity to put in technology that would allow people to skip it,” Meyers said in the interview. “It was a way to build in the response to anyone who would say, ‘Oh, let me guess there’s going to be jokes about the President.’”
Netflix confirmed to TheWrap that the “skip” button was Meyers’ idea. It also said it does not plan on offering the feature in any other comedy specials.
The idea was widely mocked on Twitter, as many wondered why a comedian would bother to write and tell jokes, only to allow viewers to chance to skip them.
Some tried to spin the concept as a dig at conservatives who can’t take jokes, but most saw it as a necessary tool for “snowflakes” who don’t want to hear trump’s name.
Some saw it as indicative of the current outrage culture, where viewers are triggered by anything they don’t agree with, and therefore must silence.
Because the precious snowflakes can’t take it.

Others just mocked the idea of a Seth Myers comedy special itself.
Seth Meyers tells jokes? Who knew?
