Tom Holland Crashes ‘Spider-Man’ Panel at CCXP (VIDEO)
Comic Con Experience (CCXP) 2018 is being held this weekend in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and it has featured a number of celebrity appearances and a heavy promotional push for next year’s comic book cinematic epics. That includes Marvel’s Spider-Man: Far From Home.Â
At a CCXP panel on Saturday for Far From Home, actor Jacob Batalon (Ned) was the only announced participant. As the video below shows, however, a few surprises were in store for the crowd, which numbered over 1,000.Â
Attendees were likely satisfied to see the new trailer for the film (which is expected to be released online sometime this week), which had a hint of the plot, as well as a look at the film’s villain, Mysterio. However, Marvel wasn’t done thrilling the crowd.
At one point, Batalon appeared to call Tom Holland so he can say “hello” to the crowd. Holland, however, commented that he too was in Brazil, after which he emerged on stage, to the roaring approval of the crowd.
After Holland spoke, there was a final surprise: Jake Gyllenhaal, who plays Mysterio, was introduced.
Reportedly set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, Far From Home appears to center around Peter Parker traveling with friends to Europe during summer vacation, where he does battle with Mysterio.Â
However, during the panel, Gyllenhaal said Mysterio is a recruit of Nick Fury, who teams up with Spider-Man to hunt down the Elementals. Holland said Peter Parker and Mysterio are ‘brothers in arms’ and their friendship is the emotional center of the film. It appears there will be some sort of falling out, of course, between the two.Â
Here’s footage released by Marvel from the Spider-Man panel. Alas, no trailer footage was included.
Spider-Man: Far From Home opens July 5, 2019.
