Tamagotchi Are Back, With a ‘Star Wars’ Twist

Tamagotchi, the interactive “virtual pet” gadget made popular during the 90s, are enjoying a resurgence, and are now entering the Star Wars galaxy!

“Star Wars has proven to be a timeless franchise and one that fans are eager to continue exploring, which makes it an absolute thrill to be able to incorporate it into the Tamagotchi experience,” Takayoshi Oyama, manager of the Business Management Team at Bandai, told StarWars.com.

The first Star Wars Tamagotchi is designed to look like R2-D2 and will come in both white and holographic blue, and will be released on November 11.You can order The R2-D2 Tamagotchi from Amazon by clicking right here.

Users will have to train R2 to master 19 different skills, and keep him charged and clean. Two mini-games, firefighting and Dejarik (a.k.a. holochess) are included, with seven more mini-games available to be unlocked. Of course, in true Tamagotchi fashion, users will have to keep R2-D2 happy and interact with the classic display that plays animations of te droid.

The R2-D2 Tamagotchi can fit in a pocket or attach to a backpack, and releases on November 11.
