Anthony Daniels Marks His Last Day Filming Star Wars: Episode IX
Anthony Daniels has completed filming his role as C-3PO for Star Wars: Episode IX, in what may be the final cinematic performance for his character.
In his tweet, Daniels reminisces a bit about playing the character, although he does not say if this will be his last time wearing the gold suit. However, given that this is the final chapter of the Skywalker trilogy, it seems unlikely C-3PO would make another cinematic appearance, except for a prequel-era anthology film.
“Today was 3PO’s last on Episode IX,” Daniels tweeted. “He’s sad – so am I. But we’re so proud to have worked with such a lovely, talented cast & crew lead by J.J. & Kathy. I’ll miss everyone but I’m glad to know that we’ve been making something exceptional together, to share with the waiting world.”
Here’s his tweet.
For the record, the image included with this story is not from the Episode IX set. There are no official images of Daniels on set, and the fact that C-3PO has a red arm may have given away that this was from the Force Awakens set. And Admiral Ackbar is visible, having not been killed unceremoniously by Rian Johnson yet.
Star Wars: Episode IX opens in theaters December 20, 2019.
