VIDEO: Mark Hamill Reveals He’s The New Voice of Chucky

In a video shown at Wondercon today and posted to social media, Star Wars actor Mark Hamill revealed he will provide the voice of Chucky in the Child’s Play reboot coming to theaters later this year from Orion Studios. The video is included below.

During Orion’s panel today at the comic convention in Anaheim, California, Hamill appeared on screen in a pre-taped video greeting. “If you’re wondering who’s going to play Chucky in the new Child’s Play,” Hamill said, “you’re looking at him.”

First released in 1988, Child’s Play has been one of horror’s biggest movie franchises. In every film, Chucky had been voiced by Lord of the Rings actor Brad Dourif.

The new Child’s Play, which opens June 21, will star Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman, and Brian Tyree Henry. In this new incarnation, Chucky is an interactive companion called “Buddi,” with artificial intelligence and a thirst for murder.

Here is the trailer to the new Child’s Play released earlier this year by Orion. Chucky’s voice is not heard, so it was not known (at the time) who would voice him.

Here is the video with Mark Hamill, as posted to his Twitter account Saturday evening.
