Sylvester Stallone Hints ‘Expendables 4’ is Coming

While most Americans spent the Fourth of July cooking out and celebrating our great country, Hollywood icon Sylvester Stallone was finding inspiration for a possible new Expendables movie.

It’s been nearly five years since the last Expendables film – 2014’s Expendables 3 took the series in a different direction, with a slew of young actors (including Ronda Rousey) joining the team. The film series has taken in over half a billion dollars in ticket sales.

Critics, as you might expect, did not care for the 80’s-inspired action and worldview of the films, but fans loved the throwback style. By Expendables 3, however, American fans seemed to tire of the series. Despite a gross of over $200 million worldwide, Expendables 3 brought in a disappointing $40 million in the United States, and the film series seemed to be at an end.

In subsequent years, however, the series has maintained a popularity among fans, thanks to cable showings and Blu-ray sales.

That may be why Stallone is ready to tackle Expendables 4 – he just needed the Fourth of July to convince him.

The actor took to social media Friday to tease a possible new film.

“All of those July 4th Fireworks got my mind going,” the actor posted on Instagram with a picture of his Expendables character, Barney Ross. “I am starting to cook up the next adventure!”

Within two hours, the post had garnered over 100,000 likes, showing there is still a passion among fans for more Expendables.

Sylvester Stallone has not provided any additional details on his Expendables 4 tease.
