Dean Cain Pays Tribute After ‘Lois & Clark’ Cast Member Passes Away
Veteran actor Eddie Jones, known to fans worldwide for his role playing Jonathan Kent in “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” has died at the age of 84.
According to reports, Jones had been suffering an undisclosed illness and passed away peacefully on Saturday. His wife Anita Jones confirmed his passing.
While Jones was best known for playing the father to Clark Kent/Superman in the popular ABC TV series, he had a prolific career on stage and screen, including 79 film and TV credits. He had a memorable role as a villain in Robert Redford’s 1992 thriller Sneakers, and also appeared in the films A League of Their Own, Seabiscuit, The Terminal, The Rocketeer, and Chuck Norris’ Invasion USA.
His TV credits include the reboot of “Dark Shadows,” “The Invisible Man,” and “Veep.” It was his role on 1993’s “Lois & Clark,” however, that brought him notability. He played Pa Kent in 87 episodes over 4 seasons.
Dean Cain, who played Clark Kent/Superman on the show, paid tribute to Jones on Twitter.
He also acted on stage, and earned a L.A. Drama Critics’ Circle Award for his role as Willie Loman in a production of “Death of a Salesman” for the Interact Theatre Company in Los Angeles.
Jones is survived by his wife of 43 years, Anita. He is also survived by his two sisters Elaine and Marilyn, and several nieces and nephews.
