Denise Nickerson, Violet from ‘Willy Wonka,’ Has Died (VIDEO)

Denise Nickerson, who gained notoriety as Violet in the classic film “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory,” has died at the age of 62.

TMZ is reporting that Nickerson died at about 10:30 p.m. in a Colorado hospital.

Nickerson, who also appeared on the soap opera “Dark Shadows,” suffered a major stroke last year, and was left unable to speak and partially paralyzed. Earlier this week, her health took a turn for the worse and she was hospitalized on life support.

On Wednesday morning, her son announced that they had decided to disconnect life support, saying it was causing her more pain.

Julie Dawn Cole, who played Veruca Salt in the film, announced her passing on Facebook.

Here’s the classic scene from Willy Wonka in which Violet turns into a blueberry.

Our condolences go out to the family and friends of Denise Nickerson.
