Here’s How Edward Furlong Returns as John Connor in ‘Terminator Dark Fate’ (SPOILER)

Thursday at San Diego Comic Con, James Cameron revealed that actor Edward Furlong, who portrayed John Connor in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, would return for the latest installment in the franchise, Terminator: Dark Fate.

Now, a report by Brad Miska on Bloody Disgusting reveals how Furlong’s Connor will return in the film. And it’s not how you think.

Here’s a portion of Miska’s report. Of course, a SPOILER WARNING applies.

I have confirmed that early leaked reports were on target and that we won’t be seeing an adult version of Furlong’s John Connor in Dark Fate, at least not in the most recent cut of the film.

My source tells me that yes, Jude Collie was in fact cast to play a young John Connor and that CGI was used to put Furlong’s face on his body….while Furlong isn’t physically in Dark Fate, he does deliver a brand new performance that’s been digitally placed directly onto Collie’s face. So, yes, Furlong is technically in Dark Fate, just not exactly how we all expected.

Miska also said that reshoots are underway on the film, so the plot could change and Furlong could appear as an adult John Connor after all if the script has undergone rewrites.

Terminator: Dark Fate reunites Linda Hamilton (as Sarah Connor) and Arnold Schwarzenegger (as the T-800) with creator James Cameron (who is producing). Deadpool director Tim Miller helms the film, which follows the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and ignores the other sequels. Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes, Gabriel Luna and Diego Boneta also star in the film.
