An Unexpected Actor Gets Top Billing in ‘The Rise of Skywalker’

With the release of the final trailer and theatrical poster for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, we have also learned the billing order for the final film in the Skywalker saga.

Surprisingly, the actor who gets top billing may be the actor with the least screen time: Carrie Fisher. The actress, who died suddenly in 2016, will be featured in the film through unused scenes shot for The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. The scenes will be repurposed and the script for the film was altered to accommodate the scenes.

According to the film’s poster, the cast billing runs in this order: Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels, Naomi Ackie, Domhnall Gleeson, Richard E. Grant, Lupita Nyong’o, Keri Russell, Joonas Suotamo, Kelly Marie Tran, with Ian McDiarmid and Billy Dee Williams.

Strangely, Fisher herself is not featured on the poster.

With Fisher getting top billing, that means each of the three main original trilogy actors will have received top billing in one “sequel trilogy” film. Harrison Ford received top billing in The Force Awakens, Mark Hamill headlined The Last Jedi cast, and now Fisher completes the trilogy.

Here is a screenshot of the poster’s billing section. The resolution isn’t great, but the top names can be seen.
