Chuy Bravo of ‘Chelsea Lately’ Dead at 63

Chuy Bravo, who gained fame as the sidekick to Chelsea Handler on her E! talk show “Chelsea Lately,” has died at 63.

Bravo had just celebrated his birthday on December 7.

A cause of death is not yet known.

Handler paid tribute to Chuy on social media.

The Hollywood Reporter reported on his life and career.

Bravo was born Jesus Melgoza in 1956 in Tangancicuaro, Michoacán, Mexico. The youngest of seven children. he immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 15 and began acting in the early 1990s.

His acting credits include films The Honeymooners (2005) and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (2007). Bravo went on to appear on the E! late-night talk show as Handler’s sidekick — Handler famously referred to him as her “little nugget” — from 2007-2014.

Though the exact cause of his death has yet to be announced, in a 2012 interview with Latina, Bravo shared that he survived prostate cancer and was a recovering alcoholic.
