‘Star Wars’ Actor John Boyega Blasts ‘Reylo’ Trolls in Epic Viral Video

John Boyega, who stars as Finn in the new Star Wars trilogy, has long been the target of social media trolls. The actor has responded to recent attacks by posting a hilarious video on his Instagram page.

Boyega has no problem speaking his mind, and lately, his comments questioning Rian Johnson’s choices in The Last Jedi angered a group of fans in the “Reylo” movement, who wanted to see Rey and Kylo Ren become lovers.

Given that Kylo Ren is a mass murderer who killed his own father, many Star Wars fans find Reylo fans a bit too weird for their tastes. Reylos have their own corner of social media, where they post fan fiction and artwork about Rey and Kylo and attack anyone who disagrees with them.

Last year, Boyega earned the ire of Reylos by mocking the idea that Rey was an even more powerful Jedi than Luke or Anakin Skywalker. You can click here to read more about that episode.

Reylos were not happy that The Rise of Skywalker did not fulfill their fantasy of Rey and Kylpo being together, so they targeted their fury at Boyega.

Boyega’s outspoken opinions have led to an onslaught of hateful tweets and racist posts on social media. He responded this weekend by posting a video of himself literally destroying the tweets in various ways. And it’s hilarious.

Here’s the video. Warning: some of the language in the tweets being featured is not safe for work.

Of course, his video did not meet the approval of some people. We won’t post some of the responses and attacks on Boyega, because the language is extremely hateful.

Most fans, however, enjoyed Boyega’s clapback.

Reylos, who had wreaked havoc in Star Wars fandom in recent years, have suddenly gone largely quiet on social media, afraid of being called out. One fan noticed that Reylos are running for their “safe spaces.”

Reylos are finding some supporters. Nerdist actually ran an opinion piece claiming Reylos are a good thing for Star Wars fandom. Apparently, fantasizing about a romance with a mass murderer is constructive.

One person responded to Nerdist with proof that some Reylos have issues, to put it mildly.

Boyega, for his part, seems unaffected by the controversy his video sparked.
