Watch Patrick Stewart Invite Whoopi Goldberg to Join ‘Picard’ Season 2
Sir Patrick Stewart appeared on ABC’s “The View” today to promote “Star Trek: Picard.” And he had a surprise for co-host Whoopi Goldberg.
Whoopi, of course, played Guinan on “Star Trek: The Next Generation” with Stewart. Although she only appeared in 28 episodes, her role as a confidant to Captain Jean-Luc Picard made a huge impact, and she eventually reprised the role in the film Star Trek: Generations.
Now, she is going to do it again.
“I’m here with a formal invitation, and it’s for you, Whoopi,” Stewart said during his interview with “The View” co-hosts. “(Executive Producer) Alex Kurtzman……and all of his colleagues, of which I am one, want to invite you into the second season.”
The crowd erupted and the two embraced as she said yes.
As Whoopi became overcome with emotion, Stewart said “It was wonderful having you, and we cannot wait to have you with us again one more time.”

Later, Stewart tweeted the video, with a message for Whoopi.
“Star Trek: Picard” season one premieres January 23. A premiere date for season two has not been announced.
