‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Drops a New Trailer

Fresh on the heels of the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the first trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been released!

The film, directed by original 2002 Spider-Man director Sam Raimi, is a sequel to 2017’s Doctor Strange, but directly follows up the events in No Way Home. It opens in theaters on May 6, 2022.

Benedict Cumberbatch returns as Stephen Strange, and he’s joined by Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, as they work together to set the Multiverse straight and face a new (yet familiar) foe: Baron Mordo, played once again by Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Also seen in the trailer is a shot of Christine (Rachel McAdams) seemingly marrying Strange, which may tie into the recent “What If?” animated series. The appearance of an evil-looking Doctor Strange also seems to reference the series, which dealt with the Multiverse as well. Xochitl Gomez is seen playing America Chavez (a.k.a. Miss America), whose powers factor into the movie’s Multiverse plot.

Here’s the trailer.
