‘Saved by the Bell’ Actor Dustin Diamond Has Died

Dustin Diamond, known to a generation of 90s kids for playing the role of Screech on “Saved by the Bell,” has died at the age of 44.

A spokesperson for the actor announced his passing in a statement. “We are saddened to confirm of Dustin Diamond’s passing on Monday, February 1st, 2021 due to carcinoma. He was diagnosed with this brutal, relentless form of malignant cancer only three weeks ago. In that time, it managed to spread rapidly throughout his system; the only mercy it exhibited was its sharp and swift execution. Dustin did not suffer. He did not have to lie submerged in pain. For that, we are grateful,” Roger Paul said.

His role as the nerdy Samuel “Screech” Powers on “Saved by the Bell” brought him instant fame. He first played the role in 1988, at the age of 11, when the show was known as “Good Morning, Miss Bliss,” and starred Hayley Mills. Te show would later be revamped into “Saved by the Bell” a year later, and he continued in the role throughout the run of the series.

He also appeared on the spinoffs “Saved by the Bell: The College Years” and “Saved by the Bell: The New Class.”

Diamond died at a Florida hospital, with two people close to him at his side.

Our condolences to is family, friends, and fans.
