These Japanese Godzilla Toys Apologize for Destroying Tokyo

It seems inevitable that in today’s crazy cancel culture, even Godzilla has to apologize for past sins.

Japan has released a line of toys featuring Godzilla and other Kaiju from the famed Toho monster movies, all standing at podiums as if they are making a statement to the press, apologizing for their destructive rampages across Japan. Their heads are hung in shame, a nice touch if you ask us.

There are four figures in the set: Godzilla, Mechagodzilla, King Ghidorah, and Hedorah. Pictures of the figures show that they appear to be quite small. They are sometimes referred to as “Gashapon,” a term for small toys sold in capsules from Japanese vending machines. It’s not clear, however, if that’s how they were sold.

You can find the toys on eBay from foreign sellers – there are listings available here and here – but it will cost you, as prices for the set of four range from $400 to $600. The listings don’t provide much in the way of details on the toys other than pictures.
