We Now Know Who’s Playing King Shark in ‘The Suicide Squad’

James Gunn, the director of The Suicide Squad, has revealed who is providing the voice of King Shark in the film – and it’s someone you know.

After the latest trailer for the film dropped, Gunn took to Twitter to share individual character posters. When he posted the King Shark poster, he revealed Sylvester Stallone would provide his voice.

In an Instagram post, Stallone stated “The world is in for a treat!! This is going to be EPIC!!!”

In a later tweet, Gunn also addressed why he went with a Great White Shark in the character design. “I did tests with the hammerhead design, which I love & originally thought I’d use,” he said. “But having eyes on the sides far apart made it incredibly awkward shooting interactions with other people. You couldn’t really see him looking at the other person & the shots tended to be too wide.”

Margot Robbie, who played Harley Quinn, is returning from the first film, as is Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.

New cast members include Idris Elba as Bloodsport, John Cena as Peacemaker, Peter Capaldi as Thinker, Nathan Fillion as T.D.K., Michael Rooker as Savant, and Stallone.

The plot involves the members of the “Squad” traveling to Corto Maltese to destroy a prison and laboratory built by the Nazis called Jotunheim.

The Suicide Squad opens in theaters and HBO Max on August 8. You can watch the trailer by clicking here.
