Patrick Stewart Speaks Out on the ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Trailer

Patrick Stewart is finally addressing the internet’s wild speculation that he is appearing in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Stewart is currently doing press for the second season of Picard on Paramount+, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t getting questions about the new Doctor Strange 2 trailer that dropped this week. Specifically, was that his voice heard in the trailer, presumably teasing the appearance of the X-Men’s Professor X?

Given the franchise-crossover we saw in Spider-Man: No Way Home, many are wondering if Doctor Strange 2 will continue the practice of bringing characters from past Marvel movie franchises into the MCU. According to Stewart, in an interview with ComicBook.com, that wasn’t him – it was someone trying to sound like him.

“You know, people have been imitating my voice ever since I came on the stage 60 years ago,” Stewart said about his “voice” being heard. “So, I can’t be held responsible for that.”

Even Stewart’s denial won’t put the speculation to rest. Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire denied their involvement in No Way Home until the film released, so that may be the case here. The question is, why would Marvel tease Stewart’s involvement so blatantly, only to have him deny it?

Of course, Stewart only denied that was his voice in the trailer, he didn’t technically deny that he is involved in the movie in some way.

Watch the trailer and decide for yourself.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, starring Benedict Cumberbatch – and maybe Patrick Stewart – opens May 6.
