WATCH: ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ Actors Discuss The Film at SDCC (VIDEO)

At this past weekend’s San Diego Comic Con, cast members of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever appeared to promote the film, give some interviews, and debut the film’s first teaser trailer.

Ryan Coogler returns to write and direct the sequel to the 2018 Best Picture nominee, but will have to continue the story without star Chadwick Boseman, who died from cancer in 2020. Rather than recast his character of T’Challa, the trailer (included below) shows the Marvel character will have died as well. The plot of the sequel will involve Wakanda going to war with the underwater kingdom of Talocan, and its leader Namor (played by Tenoch Huerta).

The film stars Letitia Wright as T’Challa’s sister Shuri, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Florence Kasumba as Ayo, Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross, and Angela Bassett as Ramonda.

In this clip, Lupita Nyong’o talks about moving on after the passing of Chadwick Boseman. She said “I think our story and our script really honors” Boseman’s memory.

In this clip, Danai Gurira (Okoye) and Dominique Thorne (Riri Williams) talk about the meeting the fans at Comic Con.

Winston Duke (Us), who plays M’Baku, voiced his excitement to be at Comic Con and back with the fans for a sequel. “It’s incredible to be back,” he says. He also spoke glowingly of returning to play his character in Wakanda Forever. “I love the character,” he said. “He’s a man whos rooted in his integrity….(He’s) another space for me to explore. He’s so very human. I always look at him as the audience a little bit; he gets to say what he thinks. He speaks the truth.”

In this clip, Alex Livinalli (Attuma) and Mabel Cadena (Namora) discuss the film.

In this clip, Florence Kasumba, who plays Ayo, talks about the veil of secrecy surrounding the film. “We still can’t talk about certain things,” she jokes.

Here’s the official teaser for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The film opens in theaters on November 11, 2022.
