‘Super Dave Osborne’ Bob Einstein Dead at 76
Bob Einstein, known to millions by his comic alter ego Super Dave Osborne, has died at the age of 76.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed his passing, but an exact cause was not announced. According to recent reports, the Emmy-winning writer and actor had recently been diagnosed with cancer.

His brother and fellow comedian Albert Brooks announced his death via Twitter on Wednesday. “R.I.P. My dear brother Bob Einstein. A great brother, father and husband. A brilliantly funny man. You will be missed forever.”
Einstein earned in Emmy award for writing for his work on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour in 1967. He would win another for producing Dick Van Dyke’s “Van Dyke and Company” in the 1970s.
In the 1980s, Einstein created the character of stuntman Super Dave Osborne on The John Byner Comedy Hour. Super Dave became a household name with his appearances on “Late Night with David Letterman,” and his “stunts.” which often went awry, became a favorite with fans. There was even a cartoon, a variety show, and a movie featuring Super Dave.
Bob Einstein earned a new round of fame, however, when he starred in the HBO comedy series “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” In response to his passing, Larry David said “It was an amazing, unforgettable experience knowing and working with him. There was no one like him, as he told us again and again. We’re all in a state of shock.”
In addition, he also appeared in Ocean’s Thirteen and on Netflix’s “Arrested Development.”
He is survived by Roberta Einstein, his wife of over 40 years, daughter Erin Einstein Dale, son-in-law Andrew Dale, grandchildren Ethan and Zoe, and his brothers Albert Brooks and Cliff Einstein.
